It's not a graded book, it has been cracked out. People who do that sort of thing should contact GPA and tell them it's not a real sale.

Never mind then. Definitely a BS listing.

The market for WD #1 is so volatile right now, this sale will skew already crazy numbers as it appears things are coming a little back to earth. Two 9.6's ended last night at 799.99 with no bids, searching past EBay auctions, just two weeks ago a 9.4 sold for $800+ and 9.6's were a grand consistently. What a roller coaster.

Wait a minute, something looks real fishy in that auction. It looks like the book has been cracked out of the outer seal and placed on top of the case when it was photographed. Look how far the actual comic is hanging over the bottom edge of the CGC case:

Here's a bigger picture of the one used in the auction:

That makes me sick

Scummers (scammers...scum, get it?) can choke on a rope. Did anyone report this to ebay?

That book at least looks pretty sharp. I hope that it just fell in the slab and wasn't removed and placed on top of the slab ... did anyone look to see what the description was in the auction and what was or wasn't disclosed?

A book cannot "fall" in the slab like that.

It looks like they didn't seal the bottom of the insert correctly. If that's the case, it should have been sent back to them ASAP. That book is in for a terrible ride to whoever wins it.

mschmit is right, the book cannot just fall. I have been a victim of this sort of thing before. I checked CGC and that is a real 9.8 label from 6/2/2006. The seller probably purchased a lower graded raw copy, maybe a 9.2 or 9.4 (see that upper left corner, looks like a bindery tear) and then swapped out the 9.8. They will go re-sub the 9.8 and make money off the poor guy who buys this copy for $1200+ when they only spent around $700? maybe...

Caveat emptor....the more popular WD#1 gets the more *spoon* like this you will see

The red flag is the gap between the top of the book and where the label is at, way too much space there. That's too bad some poor soul bought this.

Even more reason to buy WD #1 off a trusted seller.
