Glad to see I am not the only person who has done business with Morphy's Auctions before. I got a lot of my vintage marble collection from them; as well as a vintage slot machine (bought from a bidder who won it at one of their auctions I could not attend).

That being said, are you in Pennsylvania by chance? I live about thirty to forty minutes from Morphy's. Sometimes more depending on traffic...

No, I'm based in NY but my wife and I have been antiquing in the area for years and met Dan when he first opened his gallery in Adamstown. Even back then he stood out from everyone else with the care he put into the place and with his energy and professionalism. Little story about Dan to show the type of guy he is... My wife and stumbled into his first auction on one of our antiquing trips and we had our (at the time) five year old daughter with us. The house was packed and we sat through the auction for about two hours, my daughter coloring her way through it. Can't recall if we won anything or not but at the end, Dan made a point of coming over to us to shake my daughter's hand for behaving so well during the auction. He wanted to do something for her and we said he didn't need to. He immediately reached into his pocket and gave her a twenty dollar bill... And he absolutely would not take it back. That's just the kind of guy he is. Everything he does is with great care and attention and he'll go the extra length to make sure you have a great experience in your dealings with him.

I believe Dan was a huge marble collector, may still be. Marbles he really knows. His dad is really big with vintage toys, coin ops, etc.. Glad your experiences with him are much like mine.

Just from speaking to him, i get the impression that he is a very straightforward person.

I was most impressed with his willingness to spend to do something properly, rather than cut corners.

I did check out some of the auction prices in the auction. Wish I had bid, as some of the books went for a steal. I was meaning to bid on the Cap #1 and MMC #2 and forgot about them (been so busy and tired travelling). They went for steals.

Thank you so much for sharing. Yes, I have had nothing but great experiences from that firm. I get to visit Adamstown every week and stop by his gallery at least twice a month. I LOVE going to his auctions. It is my favorite auction gallery in PA by far; and I go to a lot of auctions, as I am a part time 'picker' and major collector.

He is big Into vintage toys and marbles. I was really impressed with their Star Wars toy auction they had.

I love living in PA...although the property taxes can be high...

Kind Regards,
