I'm in that predicament right now. Should I be a completionist and continue a run that I used to really like or give it up because I do not like the direction in which it is heading? We'll see what happens. I think the compromise may be continuing to pick the book up, but not having it graded by CGC.

As much as I love DC war comics, those particular issues did nothing for me so I decided to abandon the effort.

\:o That's a short run, maybe 10-12 issues and really good to boot! Definitely different from your typical Big Five stories, but probably among Kirby's best 70s work. Don't like the art? Dialogue too stilted?

No.

I don't focus on buying long or complete runs, just certain specific issues, here and there, which mean the most to me.

This probably hits the nail on the head - Definitely different from your typical Big Five stories

I like Kirby's work. I just don't like that run. Of course, it's been a long time since I read it. Maybe I should give it another shot.

I used to buy everything that could be in my focus and then I realised that I owned some comics that I hated. My Bronze Age, Kirby Captain America's went up for sale straight away then.

Hi Gaz

I quite like Kirby's Bronze Age run on Captain America

Yes.

But I'm not a high-grade collector, so I've never had to bite that bullet too hard.

By the way, that's what impresses me a lot about Ian Levine and other DC completists - they had to spent a lot of time and money buying a lot of comics I know I wouldn't want.

I have 100s of comics that I bought purely to complete the runs, its hard being a completist when you collect all titles, all company's, all genres and all eras.
If I see a comic I dont have, I just feel compelled.
I need to win the lottery.
