The transitions in Series of 1934-C from the "Old Back" to "New Back" style.

On July 3, 1950, the back was redesigned, introducing the "New Back" style. The "Old Back" style was used on all small-size $20 notes up to this point. Beneath the vignette is the title WHITE HOUSE, the newer style was changed to THE WHITE HOUSE, with THE added. On the new style the foliage is larger and richer than the Old Back style. The BEP wanted to change the currency to refect the new porch that had been added to the building.

The New Back style was used through the Series of 1950-E. The face is indistinguishable from that used of Series of 1934-C Old Back notes.*

Below is one of the finest pair of PMG 66 EPQ notes displaying both the New and Old Back notes.

The top note is the Old Back, with S/N B44949422B
