No it's not a long forgotten crossover from the late 1970's

Rather I just wonder which Bill Mantlo inspired late bronze age title was considered the best in Marvel's sub genre of toy related comics???

Please feel free to tell me which camp you belong to and why!

Cheers

Rom appealed to me in a way that Micronauts never did. I'm not really sure why.

Rom freaked me out a little as a kid as when he blasted a Dire Wraith (in human form) into limbo you'd only be left with the smouldering human shaped remains...I always remember thinking what if Rom's Analyzer malfunctioned and he blasted an innocent bystander!

Also the Dire Wraiths were pretty cool. They were shape shifting aliens who gained witch-like powers from a Black Sun.

Anyone could be a Dire Wraith as they'd infiltrated all levels of Earth society, waiting and planning to take over the planet when the time was right....Hmm "Secret Invasion" anyone?

The Micronauts were a favorite of mine back in HS even though I never got into the toys. Admitted, the first story arc was a bit of a Star Wars rip off, but you saw that everywhere back in the day and in this case, it was well done.

Never got into ROM though. The stories just weren't that great compared to the Micronauts. Although, even the Micronauts started to tank after the first two years.

A real shame of what happened to Bill Mantlo though.

Yeah, I sort of like early Bronze Age Bats, raw or slabbed. I don't discriminate.

These guys aren't too bad either. Missing just two.

The Dire Wraiths really kick into high gear with issue # 48 # 47. They go from a somewhat scary foe to an absolutely terrifying one.

Yeah it was terrible accident but I think the worst part is that the driver just took off

Never thought too much about the writing. I pretty much was hooked by Golden's work at the start.
