If your looking for a truly great anime I'd Recommend, MONSTER.
Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon working at a top hospital in Germany, is handsome, brilliant, and engaged to a beautiful girl. One night, he faces a terrible decision. A young boy arrives at the hospital after a mysterious shooting, needing surgery; shortly after, the city's mayor is also brought in. Sickened by hospital politics, Kenzo insists on saving the boy because he came in first, despite pressure from his boss. He loses the support of his director, his rank at the hospital, and his fiance. It seems his career is over; then a series of grisly murders removes the director and the doctors who were promoted over him. Kenzo discovers that the boy he saved was more than he seemed to be, and his life becomes even darker and more dangerous as he follows a trail of murders and political machinations, trying to clear his name and understand why doing the right thing has had such terrible consequences.
A real Masterpiece.

I'm now watching ( on my treadmill) Linebarrels of Iron.

"If it's not disclosed...you're being hosed." Who coined that phrase? Me, damnit! And it's still true. "Into my heart an air that kills,From yon far country blows What are those blue remembered hills,What spires, what farms are those? That is the land of lost content,I see it shining plain, The happy highways where I went and cannot come again." Nothing I say is intended to be a factual statement.

A real Masterpiece. The manga was highly rated but I didn't know that they had created an animated series from it. I'm in the midst of reading the author's second series, 20th Century Boys, which has been excellent.
