"A study by scientists at the U.S. Geological Survey says that a “remarkable” increase in the number of small quakes in the middle of the U.S. is “almost certainly manmade.”" Link to article While not related to the USGS study, the State of Ohio drew a more definitive conclusion last month: Ohio: Fracking waste tied to earthquakes Note that this was caused by disposing of the spent fracking fluid, and not by the fracking itself. Handling and disposing of the massive amount of wastewater generated during the fracking process is certainly an issue of concern, and the State of Texas has said that some underground injection of wastewater has led to seismic occurrences there as well. Again, this goes with exactly how you define an earthquake. You sound exactly like a certain public figure of the 1990s: " It depends exactly on how you define sex." The only thing I want to point out here (besides that fracking is a stupid thing to allow ourselves to do to our planet) is that the fracking sites actually make Texas look a little more uglier than usual in that arial photo Oh, and here is a great article on the lowlife that runs the show: Fracking scam
Instead of being a harassing troll if you have information that you believe counters the actual truth why not discuss it?
Anyone who makes a statement such as "fracking is a stupid thing to allow ourselves to do to the planet" is not only misinformed, but may also be misguided.
Was it not clear above when I said that fracking has been going on for more than 60 years? You do realize that it's not just oil and gas wells that are fracked but WATER wells also? I'm not sure you understand that.

I'm probably not as entwined in this field as you are but I am to some degree. All I know as of this moment is that it's too early to make any claims. That said, it's also to early to definitively say it's 100% safe, isn't causing any unintended side effects or has caused any contamination. The earth's a big place. There are lots of wells and lots of sources of water that could get contaminated. Just b/c somebody spills oil at their plant and doesn't report it to the EPA or local authority doesn't mean that oil didn't find it's way into a water supply.
It's too early to now. People need to refrain from making definitive statements either way at this point. The problem is that people are making statements for grandstanding and nothing more rather than fully realizing or researching the facts. A recent 2012 speech stated that fracking companies were going to be "forced" into disclosing what chemicals they were using in their fracking fluid. Making a statement like that hides the fact that there are already laws in place in States that have significant oil and gas activity that require the disclosure already. To the uneducated this appears as being "tough" on a subject. It would be like me saying, "Today! I'm going to make McDonald's sell me a CHEESEBURGER!" As if McDonald's either doesn't already sell them or wouldn't sell them to me. As far as making a definitive statement, yes I can definitely state that the process of fracking has not contaminated a single water source. Keep in mind, this does not point to what may cause contamination, only that the fracking itself does not. In other words, people are making crazy claims and blaming the wrong problem. It's a classic case of misinformation followed by grandstanding bandwagon hopping.

So why respond if you're not actually going to read and discuss anything I post?
Where you really even aware that water wells are also fracked? Honestly?

I did respond, and even posted an excellent article on the whole scam. Take it or leave it. Like I said, your opinion doesn't mean anything to me. But you can keep on blustering and spouting off (who's the troll now?)

You posted an article? Can you not form your own opinions on the matter? Did you even read the entire article? I'll be the first to say that I have no love for Aubrey. I've actually even met and spoken with the man, more than once. I handled a project that put Chesapeake on the Barnett Shale map. What are your credentials?
