My wife also reads labels. She's a label reader. Especially if it's an item I've snuck into the shopping cart. She knows if I've put an item in the cart, even if she's not looking. Women just know these things. She's prejudiced against High Fructose Corn Sugar for some reason. So I've learned to find similar items that have cane sugar and make it seem like there's a choice.

I never claimed to be any good at it, but there you have it.

"If it's not disclosed...you're being hosed." Who coined that phrase? Me, damnit! And it's still true.

"Into my heart an air that kills,From yon far country blows
What are those blue remembered hills,What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went and cannot come again."

Nothing I say is intended to be a factual statement.

I do care, but tend to buy a lot of processed or packaged foods due to lower cost and convenience. I'm careful about using butter, salt, etc. because I realize I'm eating plenty of unhealthy ingredients hidden in many food choices.

If y'all had EU standards in place, you could do away with that damn Corn Syrup, which seems to be in everything.

You're so right. I just looked at a bottle of horseradish sauce that I like to use on sandwiches or with veggies, and corn syrup is listed as the third ingredient.

A very good rule to follow is if an eight year old can't pronounce the name of the ingredient, you shouldn't eat it.

The second rule is to teach your eight year old how to say 'nitrates'. Otherwise, you'd be living a life without bacon.

I suspect my panini has been pressed and trimmed.

If it's not disclosed, it's probably been hosed....with ammonia. \:\/
