"No all toning is good." You should take that common heart before you buy anything with garish color on it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you knew that Bill. Seems abit harsh to pass such a strong judgement that denigrates the tastes of others. You have posted some VERY expensive coins that from the images you show, some might say the same as you do above but have refrained from doing so. Not to pick a fight, but is it really productive to say what you say above? I personally like the toning on the commen, but I am sure I am someone who buys only junk............
Best, HT
The fact is, the toning is garish and quite ugly. It is also artificial. If you like it and want to buy it, then that is your decision. However, that does not mean I need to approve or tell you I like it. You usually have very good taste HT, but this time I am going to disagree with you.
Seriously, people getting offended every time someone posts a negative opinion has got to stop! This is getting ridiculous - if I can only post positive sycophant "yes, man" opinions, I'm going to just quit posting. Grow up, get over yourself, and realize that everyone has a different opinion of things. This isn't necessarily directed at you, HT, but at the board in general.
Hi Jason, Honestly, I don't like it either, but when I post a neg towards someone as I did towards Bill in this case, whom I respect greatly, it is not because of the opinion he gave of the coin, but how he connected by saying 'people' buying junk. That to me, I interpret as questioning the intelligence or preference (or something like this) of some people who may like it. That is what I don't like what Bill said in this one case and why I posted what I did. If Bill had just kept it to 'I don't like it, it is ugly', no worries and 'tis his right to give an opinion. This is just like when James Early was telling us on one thread a month or so back that people should not use TPG grading as a 'crutch' (his words) in a statement that to me seemed to implicate folks who do rely on TPG grading as somehow flawed, or at least it could be interpreted that way. In both of these instances, despite the likely unintended implications from James and Bill, these types of statements can be taken the wrong way. I guess what I am getting at here is try to keep the opinions to coins and don't bring in statements that may implicate some type of flaw in people. So that is where my comment to Bill was coming from.
Best, HT
