I read earlier that Scott was considering two releases with different ratings. He seems to have backed away from that.
I think they should release the PG-13 in theaters, and have them release the R in Blu-Ray.

A R-rating would hurt the movie financially.

I agree, and I think they came to that same conclusion. Some videos have the option for the theater release as well as an "unrated" version.

Watched A L I E N again this week.
I really believe if this movie had come out today it would be PG-13.

I also think after what happened to John Carter (while that was PG-13,the budget was $250 mil )
That they don't want to take any chances on losing money on a R-rated film.

I wish Hollywood would get smart and use smaller budgets to target specific audiences rather than trying to hit a home run with the largest demographics every time. Profitability is the key, not the size of the first weekend.

Like these guys. Look what they can accomplish with a minuscule budget. Imagine if they had a couple of million to play with.

My guess is Ridley Scott & 20th Century Fox wants the film to be financially successful.

So,a PG-13 rating is probable the rating they'll be shooting for hm
