So auction ended Tues night. Winning bid came with 5 seconds left (so he knew what he was doing). Has 285 feedback.

Today is Friday and I haven't heard a peep from him. I've sent two invoices and a reminder for payment. I asked for a response within 24 hours; that would be 10 pm tonight.

Question: how long would you wait to file the NPB?

Thanks

A week. Unless it's changed, eBay expect purchases to be paid for within that timescale.

BTW, two invoices and a reminder in two-and-a-half days is ludicrous, IMHO.

I do not think "I am done with this thread" means what you think it means.

I would recommend 7 days just in case the person is unavailable for a few days.

To avoid this in the future, set the expectation up for for payment. First, put in your auction description when you expect payment after end of auction- 7 days seems to reasonable since most pay well before that anyway. At Day 6 if there is no payment send reminder email, and than if not paid on Day 7 file NPB on Day 8. Stating your policy in your listing will help you down the line if there is ever an issue, the ebay people can pull up that info in a dispute.

Remember it is Spring Break so if they have kids, they could be away from their access.

Also the 5 seconds that you reference could very well be a snipe bid. I have my snipe bids set up to be placed at 5 seconds before auction close.

If it was any other book, I wouldn't worry about it. This book is and I want it gone ASAP! It even teases my other books

Your eBay feedback is important, so I wouldn't torture the person. I never send even a reminder till after 7 days.

If you really get worried, you can get his info and call.

Yeah. The guy probably set the bid in his sniper and is away for a few days. It's happened to me many times.
The OP is a little too eager. I mean seriously...it's been less than three days.

Could have been snipe and he's out of town (or something) If all his feedback is positive , I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

Patience probably is a virtue here but I have been burned soooooooo many times by non-paying bidders that I understand where CC is coming from. In my experience it seems that if a bidder doesn't pay within 24 hours then he or she has no intention of ever paying. That's obviously a generalization but it happens quite a lot. Sometimes I'll even get an email several days after the auction has closed, saying, "I don't really want this. Can you cancel the transaction?" Then why bid? Why bid???
