I started reading comics when I was 13. Every Saturday the only local dealer would set up outside of a pizza shop and would sell the new comics.
My wife doesn't like comic books, but supports whatever hobby keeps me happy. I used to collect signatures, but made the transition towards sketch covers.

I have no kids in the normal sense, but in another way I have thousands. I teach at a university and I still hear from students who took my courses over a decade ago.

I'm the other "Troy" here!
I'm been a CGC SSaholic for 10 years now. I'm 35, have 4 kids including twin girls and have worked in the family business for most of my adult life. "Harley-Davidson" anyone...
I still collect mainly signatures but have a small Hero Initiative sketch collection. My wife puts up with my collection and watches the movies with me, but dreams of the day I give up my collection and cashes in. I try but am generally a very mediocre guitar player, and hold a black belt in Tae kwon do and have studied Aikido for 3 years and am currently practicing Modern Arnise as well as Kempo!
I really enjoy these boards and the friends I've made and look forward to meeting the vast majority of you in person!

I dig.
My name's Ryan (obvi). I'm 30, recently engaged and soon-to-be recently married. No kids as of yet. I'm an editor for an online retailer but I woke up one day a few months back and realized that correcting grammar isn't as fast-paced and jetsetting as I thought it would be so I went back to school to get an MBA. What I plan on doing with a business degree I'm not quite sure yet.
The first comic I ever read was a Brute Force 1 my mother bought for me off a spinner rack at a pharmacy. It was a terrible comic yet somehow that's what got me into the medium. Jim Lee's X-Men run and Batman the Animated Series fully converted me. Discovering Alan Moore's 80s output transformed me in deep and meaningful ways. Probably. I mostly strayed away from comics for the majority of my twenties so I could spend every weekend in downtown Boston getting drunk and waking up in strange places. Then a couple years ago I reread some of the trades and hardcovers I still had, remembered how great Miracleman, Batman Year One and Usagi Yojimbo are, and now I'm here, finding myself magnetically drawn to sketch covers and toughie sigs.

Looking forward to hear more stories.
Hey Andrew, what do you teach?
I teach within a department of Applied Linguistics. When people hear this they usually either get a puzzled look on their faces or say "what?" Actually, it is alot of fun and means I never had to grow up.
