[Re: Shark]
I think there should be a big banner on each selling forum when the VCC is in town directly linking to the VCC threads and the selling threads locked.
Open selling threads need to be actively discouraged during that time. I don't see that as heavy handed but simply a way to encourage more people to participate and not dilute the efforts that go into running the VCC. After all, its only 2 days every few weeks.
I agree. I know that a lot of sellers in regular sales threads (flatrock02-Mike for example) have either postponed or cancelled their sales during previous VCC weekends. Like Shooty said, we're only talking about a grand total of 6 days per year (3 VCCs).
I disagree. While I voluntarily do not post sales threads, locking the other forums and "forcing" people to participate in the VCC is ridiculous.
It's going to cause anti-VCC backlash any way, as some people will boycott it for the same reason I stated above.
There are plenty of people who love the VCC and support and participate in it. There are also those who don't care for the idea and they shouldn't be prevented from selling because of the VCC.

Perhaps it would be better to just post a sticky thread in the beginning of the week in each of the selling areas pointing the way to VCC during the weekend.
Might get more sellers/buyers that way? Sellers could also link their "booth" in this thread
I know I myself didnt realize about the VCC thing the first few months I was using the boards because I only checked the GA thread.

I think there should be some advertisement about the VCC. I also think that it's also fair to say, we'd love for sellers to consider not posting new threads while the VCC is occurring. I am totally against forcibly shutting a section (or sections) of the boards down because people prefer a format over another. Obviously, some sellers want to sell their threads in their own threads away from the VCC -- and that's their choice and it's fine.
As I said, I've refrained from posting -- especially because I generally get high traffic, and I do want to give them my support in that sense. But I fully see the other side of the coin. So I don't think those folks ought to be bullied into doing something otherwise.

I noticed that you have been participating by not posting a big thread this week, Brian and even though I don't have a thread, I for one, appreciate it ...I know last time, there were more big sellers posting things in the marketplace, this time, less.
I knew I'd have company this weekend, so I couldn't join in...and even though I didn't have a ton of stuff to list, I posted it early in the week...because I KNEW about the VCC...I'm sure a lot more people would do the same thing if they knew...so some kind of banner, or even a faux sales thread with the title "Join in the VCC" , that we could bump once and a while ... couldn't hurt. IF it was OK with the mods.
Just added some Chew, Marvel Superhero Squad variants, signed books and a few sets. I knew I should have sit this one out but I have so many dupes that need a new home.

I posted a little blurb in the Golden/Silver/Bronze Age Sales thread about this being the last day of the VCC and a link to Page 1. Hope no one gets disturbed by it.
