i had been watching this for a while on the bay and finally came up with a number i felt was good for me and actually didnt even think seller was going to take, d/t the difference in his original price.
Anyway, it resides in an ANACS holder, MS64. My question is, does anyone think it would be worth it to reholder with NGC?
Possible star designation for eye appeal?
The coin REALLY looks awesome in hand! The reverse shows ALOT of PL surface, and the obverse is VERy attractice in hand.
WHat do you guys and gals think?

I really like the gold stars on the obverse with the blue field as contrast. I think NGC's stars idea is a great selling point over other TPG services. You would think that where ever possible they'd want to reward worthy coins. it's just exciting and good business.

That was one of my favorite this.gs about it too. Also, when the coin is tipped on the side it looks like liberty is submerged in water. I call it "drowning liberty"

Looks like a finger print in front of liberty's face. Because of that I am not so sure it would get a star.

From the looks of it , I'd call it a PL. Star designation worthy, NO. Nice catch and Congrats.

There is one fly in the ointment. This is an 1881-S silver dollar, and nice examples of this coin are almost as common as sharks’ teeth. These coins were well made with many P-L examples, and large numbers of these coins are known in MS-64 and better.

Getting a star on an 1881-S is not quite as hard as finding a 1970-D half dollar in a bank roll, but it’s close.
