Picked up one slab for a great price
1 hour of con seems to be relatively safe for me.
It did make me realize the degree of hypocrisy that surrounds the apocryphal "grandma with a box of action comics asking for $50 for the lot" what do you do?
I certainly did not point out the price discrepancy between what they were asking for my one book and what the last sale was, am I really oing to say I want that book but it's worth a lot more than you are asking. Why should a dealer be expected to do the same to grandma?

One could feel a bit bad for grandma, who doesn't know any better, but for the dealer who is mispricing their wares I say thank you, may I have another? No sympathy for underpricing by a dealer who should presumably have market knowledge. Occasionally one just slips through the cracks, and that makes up for all the other books we overspend on!
_________________________ Finally complete! Now I would like to upgrade to 7.0-8.0 copies of Amazing Adventures #3 & 6.
That's a stoopid hard book to get in that grade considering how few people purchased it when it came out. Nice pickup. The previous sale must have been on CLink since it isn't in GPA. I can only guess that it was ridiculously pricey given the competition for the #1 set.

Did you negotiate a discount from the asking price?

It's hard to tell if this is really a problem or not from the article.
There has been a large rise in couples having children without getting married. If the biological parents are raising the kids as a couple, I'm not concerned that they aren't getting married.
The one couple in my sphere of knowledge that has chosen that path seem just as stable as most of the married couples I know.
This has actually become the norm in Sweden without terrible effect.
The problems come when the parents split up. It's hard to determine if marriage actually lowers the rate of that happening. Selection bias makes the issue hard to pin down.
I reject that the underlying markets are inefficient; if you are collecting this title, you know about the book and it's hard to think that this is a smart move. You won't get the book for ages, HAto buyer, buyer to comic link, ComicLink to seller. Still, I think that's not going to happen.
