We are just feeling really disgusting, the endless bad food that one is exposed to at museums, malls, theme parks etc
I have seen so many obese children and adults here, I still get shocked. The mall of America is pretty bad.
In NY (?just the city) they are publishing calorie counts on all food items. Apparently it has not made any difference, I know it does when I order stuff.
I have not seen any calorie counts down here, except at our hotel; maybe they figure they are coming and are just ahead of the curve, maybe it's easy to do one nationwide print job than colorized ones and non calories ones.
Still, in the lobby restaurant one item is the full rack of ribs - 1850 calories.
What is 1850 calories, pretty much a normal mans daily calorie requirement. So get your bis, that fine...just have water with it and nothing else for the rest of the day.
The food industry resists - but how about at a minimum a notice that on items that you are about to eat that they represent your entire days calorie requirements. How about a notice when one thing is half your days requirements?
Looking forward to being home and eating some fruit and vegetables.
When you look at the food available, people don't have a chance.

Seem to have stuff on my mind recently.
Walking around the con I managed to hit artist alley briefly; it made me wonder about all the trademarks , copy rights, patents (just to cover all the legal angles but I probably still got it wrong) on marvel and dcs respective characters.
When these artists do a sketch and sell it for money are they violating the law? Do they have contracts that just say, for example, you are hired by marvel to draw 9 moon knight books and that's it, or in signing you up you now have access to draw and sell any marvel character?
The characters don't exist (....or do they), their image/likeness is all there is. If you want to sell batman clocks you need to chat with DC presumably.
I've been told it's an "unwritten rule" that allows artists to make money sketching Marvel and DC's characters, as long as they don't create multiple prints of said sketches and sell them. This practice was started way back in the day as the companies knew they were paying their artists krappy wages and this was a way for them to make some extra money.

I think a good first step would be to get out of the business of farm subsidies.
We've made corn syrup one of the cheapest foods in the history of the world.
It's pretty easy now for a person to drink half their daily calories in sugared beverages.
