Gil Kane Cover Thread

Gil Kane was an essential part of my childhood love of Marvel Comics. His covers conveyed dynamic action better than virtually any other artist. He was prolific, fast and good. The Editors must have loved him even more than I did. I loved his lizards, dinosaurs and monsters the most. :cloud9:

Just for you.

Isn't the Giant Size Spider-Man #2 cover by John Romita?

I too was enticed into buying many 1970s Marvel comics by Gil Kane covers when I was a little kid. Often to be disppointed by the horrible art work inside executed by other, lesser artists.

I haven't figured out how to post images here. Somebody please do me a favour and post Marvel Team Up #5, one of the first comics I ever bought. And it has great Gil Kane interior artwork too!!

Giant Size Spider-Man #2 is Kane pencils with Romita inks, at least according to the Grand Comics Database. Spidey's and Chang-Chi's fingers are a dead giveaway for me. link

Here's the MTU #5 for you:

Seeing all of these old Kane covers from my childhood also reminded me that more times than once, how disappointed I was with the interior art and sometimes the story. Man, Kane got me to buy a lot of books I wouldn't have actually bought.
