also, reportedly bynum is willing to sign an extension with cleveland if he gets a max deal, which i think would be great for cleveland. they screwed up in the draft, but kyrie, bynum, waiters, tristan, and alonzo gee would be a fairly decent team to build on. not gonna be contenders yet, but definitely a step in the right direction.

according to sources, dwight ready to sign extension with the lakers Of course he is, but that's never been the issue. Hopefully Orlando aren't going to pull a Memphis and just hand LA another championship (although I guess I'd like to see Nash win one). Actually, thats always been the issue. Howard has stated, repeately, that he would only sign an extension with Brooklyn. I , for one, hope he signs a multi-year extension and then breaks up with his girlfriend before the season starts. Then we'll see how happy he is in LALAnd. What I'm saying is that even if Howard were willing to sign with LA, LA has never been able to offer Orlando enough in trade to entice Orlando to do the deal, unless Bynum indicated he was willing to sign an extension with Orlando. Even then LA always needed a third team to be involved in the deal to absorb some of the big contracts that Orlando wants to unload, because LA has no space to absorb them.
Everyone gave Stern flak for killing the Chris Paul-to-LA deal. But he was under great pressure from the other owners, who were sick and tired of individual clubs giving sweetheart deals to LA and now were alarmed that the league, through its ownership of the Hornets, was going to give a sweetheart deal to LA.

I'm sick of him now as well. So he's planning to screw Orlando over by guaranteeing they can't trade him? What a *spoon*.

Howard'sagent says he will not sign any extensions...
From USA Today: Another day, another Dwight Howard rumor.
Forget the one about him willing to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.
That was yesterday's story. His agent says that was never true.
"Dwight's position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season," Dan Fegan told Ric Bucher of ESPN. "He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn."
You can understand teams twisting themselves like pretzels to get a guy who averages 18.4 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots. But what is in Dwight's heart?
The guy who opted in contract-wise with Orlando, but opted-out heart-wise, has made it clear he wants to be in Brooklyn. When that didn't work out we've heard the Lakers, Rockets and Mavericks. And of course he's still in Orlando.
But with Howard looking to be rented for 2012-13 anything is now possible.
If you had to bet, where do you think Howard will be playing at the end of the upcoming season?

Jordan Hill re signs with Lakers for two years, 8 million. All the bench needs now is a back up SG for Kobe.

the breaking news was Dwight said he would re-sign with the Lakers after the season if traded there....as the day progressed that evolved into him signing an extention with the Lakers when he's traded there....
two different things..
Dwight should wait till after the season because he can sign a long contract...

So sick of Dwight Howard. He's on the fast track to LeBron Land of Villainy. This is worse than "The Decision".
Glad you mentioned this b/c I was thinking the same thing. Although, I think it's important to note that
Lebron was a FREE AGENT, having served out his contract. Howard is NOT and even with as little as I follow basketball, I've heard about him wanting out now for a couple of years.
So if Lebron, who played out his contract and was free to sign on with a good team and who's biggest gaffe was sitting down for an interview which was not his idea to do, an interview that generated a whopping sum of money for charity is so reviled what does that make Dwight Howard? From where i'm sitting, it makes Howard 5 times the doosshnozzle that Lebron gets labeled as.

I've been saying for years that Howard is a thug with thug mentality and everyone defended him. He's athletic, big and strong but he's not a true sportsman IMO. His true colours are finally showing, it seems.

Update on the Howard situation that finally makes some sense--apparently he told the Magic yesterday he's open to exactly three situations--an immediate trade to the Lakers, a trade in January to the Nets (that's when Brook Lopez becomes tradable under his new contract), or becoming a free agent next summer and signing with the Mavericks. As a Mavs fan, I'm clearly hoping for the last of those to happen.
