phicks phicks If I just sell the car, I can up my bid... Registered: 01/15/09 Posts: 185	I was thinking of ordering some books from Metrolopolis Comics in NYC. For those who have dealt with them, are their gradings usually spot on? Too tough? A little loose? Thanks in advance for any help.

Books in the 9.0-9.6 range we're obviously talking more a 0.2-0.4 spread.

Registered: 11/03/05 Posts: 3218 Loc: NYC	I recall a while back, they had a few instances of duplicates of the exact same book, same grade. The metro graded ones cost less than the CGC graded ones. These are my general impressions: Metro is way more forgiving on stains than is CGC. The difference can mean a 1 to 2 point difference in grade. Similarly, cover tears are overlooked more than CGC. Metro does not factor in non-color breaking creases to the same extent as CGC. If you buy a book with NCB creases, you can generally have it pressed and get approximately the same grade Metro gave it. Expensive high-grade items are usually within 0.5 of the CGC grade though paying for a 9.4 and getting a 9.2 after grading is pretty disappointing. I have, however, bought a GA 9.6, had it graded, and gotten a 9.8. So in this sense, they are about as accurate as most dealers. Some of their books have been on the convention circuit for a while and need to be reviewed in hand since they may have been graded years ago and who knows what has happened to them in the mean time. I think they are generally as accurate as any other high-profile dealer. Definitely better than the run of the mill LCS. But if you get a book and don't like it, you can return it. They are pretty easy on returns.

It's why most people get them graded.
