You're limiting yourself by only going for white pages. If you can get a nice copy with a perfect wrap i would accept a lower pq, but that's just me.
PQ is a complete joke. I had a Daredevil 1 that was a 5.0 off-white come back off-white to white on a resub at at 6.0. I then had a JIM 83 that was White to Off-White at at 4.0 come back as a 5.0 Ceam to Off-White.
I am sure if I sent it in again it would change.
I had an ASM 300 I bought off the rack, sent it in a couple years ago. Came back as an OWW 9.0 and a nice ding on the top of the spine... Had it pressed sent it back in and it came back a 9.4 white page... You never know.. especially on that book, 181, I'd take an OWW with nice centering any day of the week.
The points you bring up are all fair. That being said, i've not even see too many 8.0s that dont have the miss-wrap, which is a total deal breaker for me. the book is too new to have white showing along the spine.
