Try calling your local post office customer service line. I've had them find missing media mail packages sent to me. They were just "lost" at the local bulk mail center 15 miles away. I only call when it's been over 15 days.

I am in the middle of a Media Mail dispute right now. I sent 66 Preacher comics (#1-66, no #12, + Vertigo Preview- 1st appearance) via Media Mail from Iowa to Austin, Texas on Sept 2nd and they never arrived. So the buyer filed a Paypal dispute and now Paypal has me on a negative balance. I lost money on the sale, now I will be out the books (unless the postal service returns them to me... good luck there, huh??). I am printing out all my paperwork (Paypal dispute, auction page, postal receipt) and will go to the post office tomorrow to attempt to put a trace on the package. I'll update here if there is any news on this very frustrating situation...

I hope it works out okay! Was the package insured? I've had Media Mail parcels take a VERY long time to arrive, but a month or more in transit is a little unusual. My guess, though, is that it will show up eventually. And the Post Office probably won't treat it as lost for at least 90 days (but I'm not 100% sure about that)...

Thanks for the tip! Yesterday I went to the post office that I sent the package through with all my related paperwork and the teller was very helpful. It was a pretty slow day for them customer-wise and it's a smaller station so he was able to take notes & xerox my papers, take down my contact info, etc. He will pass that on to the supervisor who will hopefully call 2 likely stations it could be at and get back to me soon. Got my fingers crossed...

The Post Office I ship all my comics from has never hassled me. In fact, I had one time when I shipped several packages and the lady asked me what they were. I told her and she thought it was cool. No mention of what qualifies for media rate and not one of my packages has ever been inspected. I know a comic shop owner providing subscription service and he ships media all the time.

Guys, I am a UPS driver, so I know a little bit about this subject. First, the USPS is NOT set up to ship large packages. They just aren't. Yes, they are cheaper than UPS, in most cases, but you get what you pay for.

I also know the "horror" stories about UPS. We do NOT treat every package with kid gloves, but we do pay claims quickly and if you pack securely the box will make it.

Where are you located? I ship out of Tualatin and they hassle me everytime. It makes me nervous to send media mail so I only do it when people request.

I mail comics via Media Mail all the time...through the online Paypal option !

Drop the package off at the PO (no line for me) and I'm done.

I have yet to have one inspected/returned/un-delivered/whatever.

No muss no fuss.

No, the buyer decided to claim a Credit Card chargeback of 1/2 the total purchase price, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but the books never showed up.

Paypal emailed me that they would dispute the claim since I uploaded my postal receipt in the dispute, but that has been over a month and I haven't heard anything back since then.

I will never ship comics Media Mail again- not worth it.

Same here. I have mailed easily 2000-3000 items via media mail and have had maybe 4-5 lost in the mail. Almost always this was prior to Paypal's postage where through paypal you can now buy cheap tracking ($0.18 using paypal vs $0.60 when bought at the PO) Now I have never have a lost package since I can track it. Every now and then it does get delayed but nothing real big. Things get lost 1st class and Priorit, or UPS too.

If I saved $2 per package on 2500 items, that's a savings of $5000 for either me or the buyer.
