I just called CGC today for graders notes on a Showcase 30 8.0 listed on C-Link. I gave the serial number as usual, and was told "no graders notes on this book"......to which I said "huh?" I was then told that the book was graded within the past few weeks, and starting around that time CGC is only listing defects in the graders notes that are not obvious / not easily seen or detectable. This will also apparently be ongoing.
Well, for me this is very , because now I won't know what is wrong with a book, which limits my ability to make smart buying decisions. A perfect example is the Showcase 30 I was calling about.....the front cover looked NM-, and now I have no idea if there is a 1/2" tear or stain on the back cover driving the grade down....could be a spine split also...now there is no way to know without the book being in hand. C-Link does not post pics of back covers, although in time, they may want to / be wise to, if potential buyers can't get info from CGC like they used to be able to. VERY, VERY uncool IMO Steve

I agree, that is a total suck-fest.

The demise of CGC is ongoing...keep up producing daft protocol decisions like that one, that tend to smell badly, and you will eventually be a feckless company!!!!!!

This blows, indeed. It'll affect ebay buying - where the scans can be abominable - for me even more so than Clink. At least there you usually get a decent size scan of the front. What a drag, and a step backward for sure.

If there are no grader's notes available, then I HAVE to assume that the given grade is either paid for on a sliding scale or guessed with a quick glance.
PGX already provide that service. They don't need the competition.
