I agreed to buy some books and was unable to finish some deals at the time.Things happen.

In that case you find some way to make good on the deal. "Things happen" doesn't cut it.

I have had WAY more transactions here than these few that have gone bad over the last year

Sorry dude, the standard is not 80% or 90% successful completion rate. It's 100%.

Do you really think the people you stiffed feel any better because you managed to successfully complete the other 99 deals you've done on these boards?

Kudos (I know, this isn't the kudos thread) to skypinkblu for shedding some well-deserved light on this matter!

can you saw...witchhunt??

yep,the mystery has been solved...I would have gotten away with it if it werent for you meddling kids!

There was a lot hidden there,I agreed to buy some books and was unable to finish some deals at the time.Things happen.

I have had WAY more transactions here than these few that have gone bad over the last year and I have sold some serious books here as well.I am not asking anyone to buy or sell anything to me if they dont want to.I asked for PM's,and am trying to resolve the issues and so far all I have gotten is a public posting.

That doesn't cut it. You have to clean up your act in order to get off the probation list. If it means making a public thread in "Comics General" and the Sales thread asking for all those you stiffed to contact you, then so be it.

Nothing in your posts have suggested any kind of remorse or humility whatsoever, so nobody's going to feel inclined to give you a break until you make reparations to all affected parties (and they all vouch for you in THIS thread.) Then Divad or whoever's the head of this thread will possibly remove your name from probation. Until you meet all those points... your name is mud here.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have sent PM's to the people I seemed to have stiffed in the past. After 2 hours of digging through year old responses in this thread, I have made a list and sent out apology letters and requested replies to figure out how to resolve everything.

If you feel you were burned by me,and you havent received a PM as of now, please contact me.

I'm the last guy to pour gas on the fire and I appreciate a man making up for mistakes but the phrase 'I seemed to have stiffed' and 'if you feel you were burned' doesn't sound sincere to me. Although 'making a list and sending out apology letters and requesting replies to figure out how to resolve' sounds wonderful.

Also, completing 90% of transactions including some big books doesn't make feel too happy if I was one of the 90% or I am contemplating a deal with you and may become the unhappy minority.

I was just quoting what has been said. This is a true letter of apology, and I hope no one takes offense, it is definitely not meant in a negative way.

Tim

Sorry for my post then. I was trying to be fair about it but I've seen a lot of half hearted, 'if I did this' type of apologies and they drive me *butterknife* around the bend. Here's hoping that this can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. :shy:

I had quite a number of good transactions before JF posted an I'll Buy It on a What If lot where he didn't pay. He also showed interest in a Showcase 4 where we sort of agreed to a deal and then sort of not, I forget the details but no biggie there. We also had a good trade where I sent a $700 flash book for an ASM 14 that worked out perfectly just before he left the fold if you will.

I'd echo the sentiments to be cautious about buying from JF and sending money first before receiving books. Fool me once and all that.

But I've never had a huge problem with folks being non payers. The reputational loss is certainly much greater to the called out non buyer than the minimal time lost and high hopes for a sold book that a seller has to go through. Compared to outright fraud, theft, and misrepresentation; a non purchase is the least of the problems between buyer and seller. So, yes, a deal is a deal and shouldn't be backed out. But I say give the guy a break as a buyer. His money still looks green to me if he's looking for more books.

I've also had a deal here with a very well known board member who flat out didn't pay me and ignored my polite requests for payment. It's more the hassle of checking Paypal every day wondering when payment will arrive than the actual non completion of the deal. Certainly no where near as painfull as not getting what you pay for.

Thanks for the words Ed !

I wish we could have finalized that showcase 4,if I remember correctly we were trying to work a trade with some books that I was consigning, and some of my own. What did it eventually sell for anyway?

I would like to say again that my rep as a seller has had no problems.Sometimes it might take a few days to get something out, but it always goes out.I actually prefer paypal ( for what thats worth) so there is always some level of protection on both sides.

What's this about a $4000 scam \:o

Here it is.

AlleyBat Scam

I just read through that entire thread and all I can say is :o

That is one horrible human being and deserves all the bad karma that the universe will surely dole out for him. My heart goes out to VT, glad to here that there has been at least some favorable progress so far.

Wow. Just, wow. I can say that in the short time that I've been on these boards, that everyone I've dealt with so far seem like pretty stand-up individuals. It's good to see this type of comradery and support shown between members, especially in rally of catching such a despicable thief. It makes me look even more forward to becoming an active member around here.
