I wonder if the guy holding the Esquire magazine is buying it for the articles or the Vargas pin-up (or George Petty pin-up) ??

wouldn't you like to go back to 1942 for minute to pick up some old comics like action 45, superman 15 or more fun 76 for under 2 cents each? 100 for $1.95 or 1000 for $19. this is from an ad in the march 14 1942 issue of billboard magazine.

First comic mail order business!?! \:o I'd love to have a 1000 comics published on or before 1942 for $19! Couldn't have been much more than 1000 different comics published by then! Okay, I'll take 2000!

Love these old photos of newstands and comics! Keep em coming!

that company was a redistributor: they bought in bulk books that never made it to the news stand and sold them to used periodicals dealers.

Since the Popeye is from 1935, the Famous Funnies should be too. I think it's #13 from Aug 1935. Only one other comic on the stands at that time - anyone see a New Fun #5 (I don't)?

That's one packed newstand! Nice stack of WDC&S (#90, March 1948 BTW)! Wonder what's all hidden in there?
