Not a blast cover, but my understanding is the first technical "atom bomb" cover was Terry Toons # 39 (second appearance of Mighty Mouse), with a December 1945 cover date.

6.5 to 8.0 is a pretty big gap in my opinion. I wouldnt grade this book any higher than 6.5.
