Two comments on your list:

1. ANACS dropped the expansion of the name when they were made independent from the ANA. Now owned by Amos Press, the ANACS acronym does not have an official meaning.

2. On your website, the emboldened "most widely accepted" TPGS should also include ICG. Judging by the "high end" auction listings, you are as likely to see an ICG slabbed coin as you would an ANACS slabbed coin. Others may also say PCI, but I have not seen that many PCI slabbed coins in these auctions.

Otherwise, good job!!

Scott

I concur with Scott: when i started collecting, i always heard people refer to the 'big 4' NGC, PCGS, ANACS and ICG. ICG does seem to have some good credibility.

In fact, i read recently some study conducted by the PNG and the ANA (if i recall correctly). Anyway, they rated the grading services:

NGC and PCGS got a 'superior'

ANACS and ICG got a 'good'

the rest rated from 'poor' to 'unacceptable'

Sorry but ICG was not rated good, they were, however, in the poor section.

Really? They were rated Average (above Poor and below Superior), the same as ANACS, in these PNG/ITCTA Grading Survey Results. What survey are you thinking of?

thanks for the link!

i was doing it from memory, and had rememberd that ANACS and ICG were in the 'good' category, when that terminology didn't exist. What my point should have been however is that they were ranked 'second tier'.

Actually, they are in the third tier. No one made it to the first tier, Outstanding.
